We hope you will join us for a visit...but don't expect to be disappointed. Brown County is a refreshing change of pace...and uniquely known to have its own comfortable rhythm of life... a bit slower than the "city" existence most of us have come to know.
Snow Skiing in Brown County
Beautiful terrain and foliage bring many a first-time visitor to the area, but what keeps them coming back is the charming collection of shops, restaurants theatres, music halls, and home-grown havens found in what has become known as "Little Nashville". Many of our guests stay with us and dine in town, just 3 miles away.

Brown County first became a popular colony among artists in the 1800's. It is especially popular amongst landscape artists, in the plein-air style, and the galleries of town are full of treasures for the bargain hunter.

There are several fine golf courses within short drives...from Nashville's own Salt Creek Golf Club to Otter Creek in Columbus (20 minutes), to Bloomington and Indiana University's own course (approx. 25 minutes further southwest along State Road 46).

We have had a number of group events where the men folk enjoy a round or two of golf while their female companions barnstorm the eclectic mix of shops and galleries in Nashville and the two outlet malls within 20 minutes (Seymour and Edinburgh).

The State Park gate entrance is less than a mile further west along State Road 135. With 16,000 acres, swimming pools, picnic areas, and restaurants, and it is reputed to be the largest state park in America...and certainly one of the prettiest.

No trip to our Ranch should be completed without a "country run" on some of the ten miles of roads less traveled around the Rawhide Ranch.

to open a map of the Ten Miles Less Traveled around the Rawhide Ranch.

Along these roads, you will find the quaint little "village" of Story just south along State Road 135. The village of Story is home to Indiana's oldest country inn, The Story Inn.

Click here to visit their web site.
