Biking at Rawhide Ranch
Whether you and your bike are covered in mud from the Brown County State Park trails or grit from the winding backroads of Brown County, you are welcome at Rawhide Ranch.
What does a bicyclist need? We will provide a lockable stall to prevent you from loading and unloading your bike from your roof car carrier. These stalls come equipped with rags for you to use when cleaning your bicycle and a water source close by. Don’t worry about coming in sweaty and dirty from the ride. We work around horses all day; we know dirt.
Why would we care about bicyclists? In the March issue of Bike Magazine, Brown County State Park was named as one of the best 33 mountain bike trail systems in North America. It was runner-up in the “Best Trail Network” category. The ranch is less than 2 miles from the north entrance of the park.
What about you road bikers? This county has some of the most challenging roads in the state. Rawhide Ranch sits on one of them: The hilly, winding, State Road 135. Rawhide is lucky enough to be the spring training camp for Wisconsin-based Team Gear Grinder, which has been traveling to the ranch since early spring 2004 to get a jump on its conditioning.
Here’s what the team says about us:
Team GEARGRINDER has been coming to Rawhide Ranch for the past 5 years. We have made this location our primary spring training destination for our road bicycle team. We chose Brown County for the beautiful landscape, rolling hills and less-traveled roads.
Rawhide Ranch has shown us great hospitality from the first day we arrived. The facilities work great for larger groups, the catered food has always been excellent and the peace and quiet are great to relax and unwind after many hours in the saddle.
The personal care provided by the Ranch staff has always made us feel special when we are here. I would encourage any road or mountain bike team or club to give this destination your consideration. I feel you will be very pleased.
